In the evacuated town of Tomioka, there is a hairsalon badly-damaged by a massive
earthquake. A clock at the hair salon shows the time the earthquakestruck. The time
has stopped since then in this town.

In March 2011, a massive earthquake and tsunami wrecked the FukushimaDaiichi
nuclear power plant. Following this nuclear disaster, tens of thousandsof people lost
their homes and are still living in temporary houses.

In November 2013, I visited the towns around the crippled plant underlicence issued
by the local government. Two years and eight months had passed sincethe earthquake and
tsunami struck, but heavy damage caused by the disaster still remainedand what I heard
was the voice of the wind moving across the deserted field.
